Why You’ll Love This Caramel Apple Dip

  • Quick to Whip Up: Takes just minutes to throw together!

  • Everyone Loves It: Kids and adults will devour this creamy and crunchy apple dip. It’s a huge hit with all ages!

Ingredients for Caramel Apple Dip

  • Cream Cheese: This makes the base of the dip super creamy and smooth. Letting it sit out at room temperature for a bit helps it mix up nice and fluffy.
  • Powdered Sugar: Adds just the right amount of sweetness to balance the tartness of the apples. It also keeps the dip smooth, unlike regular sugar, which can feel grainy.
  • Pure Vanilla Extract: A splash of vanilla extract gives the dip a warm, sweet flavor.
  • Toffee Bits: These add a crunchy, buttery bite to the dip. Some go in the mix, and the rest get sprinkled on top for extra texture.
  • Chopped Salted Peanuts: Salted peanuts balance out the sweetness of the dip. Some get mixed in, and the rest go on top.
  • Good Quality Caramel Sauce: The rich caramel layer is what makes this dip so irresistible. Look for a thick, good-quality caramel sauce in the grocery store’s produce section. If you’d prefer to make your own, my caramel sauce tastes so good!
  • Freshly Sliced Apples for Dipping: Granny Smith apples are the best because their tartness balances the sweetness of the dip.

How to Make Caramel Apple Dip

  1. Beat the Cream Cheese: In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to combine cream cheese until it’s smooth and fluffy.
  2. Add Sweetness: Mix in the powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Keep beating until everything is well blended.
  3. Mix in the Crunch: Stir in half of the crunchy toffee bits and half of the chopped salted peanuts.
  4. Spread It Out: Pour the cream cheese mixture into the bottom of a serving dish and spread it evenly.
  5. Add the Caramel: Drizzle the rich caramel sauce over the cream cheese layer, making sure to cover the whole surface.
  6. Top It Off: Sprinkle the rest of the toffee bits and chopped peanuts on top.
  7. Serve With Freshly Sliced Apples: Granny Smith apples are preferred, but you can use any crisp apple slices. Toss them with a little bit of lemon juice to keep them from turning brown.

Recipe Tips

  • Use a Mixer: I recommend using a hand or stand mixer. It helps to create a very light and fluffy texture to the dip.
  • Presentation: Drizzling caramel sauce over the nuts adds a nice elegant presentation.
  • Lemon Juice: A little lemon juice will prevent your cut apples from browning on your serving tray.
  • How to Soften Cream Cheese Quickly: Forgot to set out the cream cheese? Grab a bowl of warm water and the cream cheese to the bowl in the foil wrapper. Let it sit for 5 minutes. Check the texture by squeezing the package. If it is still a bit cold get fresh warm water and soak it another 5 minutes or until the cream cheese is softened.

Recipe Variations

Want a few ideas on how to change up this caramel cream cheese dip? If so, here are a few of my favorite ideas:

  • Chocolate Topper: Drizzle some hot fudge or melted chocolate chips over the top of the dip. It adds a pretty look and sweet flavor.
  • Warm Spice: Mix 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon or apple pie spice into the cream cheese mixture for a warm spice flavor.
  • Peanut Butter Flavor: Mix in 1/4 cup of creamy peanut butter or hazelnut spread with the cream cheese mixture for a sweet twist.
  • Toppers: Top the dip with mini chocolate chips and peanuts for added flavoring.
  • Extra Protein: Use 1/2 plain Greek yogurt and 1/2 cream cheese as the base for added protein to the dip.

Ways to Serve Caramel Apple Dip

Place the dip in a serving bowl and pair it with fresh fruit around the bowl on a serving tray or plate. You can also serve this dip with pretzels, graham crackers, Vanilla Wafers, tart apples, strawberries, sliced pears, and so much more!

How to Store Leftovers

You can store this caramel apple dip in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5-6 days. Just keep it covered and then serve and enjoy. After awhile, the ingredients can separate a bit, and if this happens simply stir and mix the ingredients back up. It’s that easy!

What Apples Are Best for Dipping?

Crisp, tart apples are best for dipping. Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or others work great for this recipe. You want them to be firm in texture so they hold up when dipped.

Can I Make Vegan Caramel Apple Dip?

Reach for vegan substitutes to replace the dairy ingredients to create a plant-based caramel apple dip.

What Can I Do if My Caramel Apple Dip Is Too Thick?

If your dip is too thick you can add a teaspoon to tablespoon of milk to the cream cheese mixture. Mix well and then repeat if it is still too thick.
